About Me

I am a senior in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) at Cornell University majoring in Information Science. I was born in Rochester, NH, but was raised in West Orange and Cranbury, NJ. I attended Princeton High School and graduated in June 2007.

I had thought for a long time in high school about applying to engineering programs for electrical or computer engineering or computer science. I fell in love with Cornell the first time I visited campus and heard about the Information Science (IS) program. Information Science at Cornell is a combination of Computer Science, Psychology, and Communication, but the backgrounds of IS majors sometimes deviate towards one of these areas. I believe it is a comprehensive program that gives an advantage over most CS majors, and that is usability. Information Science is more about the experience with computers and computing.

In my spare time, I like to bowl, play piano, watch the Yankees and Jets, read tech blogs, and listen to music. I am in a weekly league at Cornell and bowl with three other Cornell students on my team. My average over the past 3 years is 164, although one semester I averaged 176. My high game is a 259. For my primary strike ball, I use the Storm Reign and the classic Brunswick T-Zone as my spare ball. I used to roll a Columbia 300 Momentum Swing, but I only use it for light oil patterns now.

My taste in music is quite eclectic, and you can view my recently played music here. However, I am always in the mood to listen to Progressive Rock. In September 2010, I saw my favorite band, Rush, perform on their Time Machine Tour. It was by far the best concert I have ever attended.

In high school, I played piano for the school's premier jazz band, the Princeton High School Studio Band. It was here I really got into playing jazz. I taught myself a few song that weren't in our repertoire. One of my favorite comics is Peanuts. I enjoyed the animated specials so much that I learned to play "Christmas Time is Here" on piano and recorded it. Here it is:
